"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well." – Psalm 139:14
We all have a unique "why" that fuels our existence—a purpose divinely crafted by God that shapes the way we live, love, and serve. But what happens when life’s challenges convince us that we don't matter? What happens when the stories we tell ourselves overshadow the truth of God’s Word?
There was a time in my life when I believed the lie that my voice didn’t matter. Somewhere between life's hardships and my own self-doubt, I allowed a narrative to take root: You’re invisible. What you offer is insignificant. This lie became a lens through which I saw myself, distorting the truth of who God made me to be. I withdrew, doubting whether I had anything of value to contribute.
But God has a way of rewriting our stories.
During one of the lowest points in my life, God used Psalm 139:14 to confront the lies I believed. This verse reminded me that I was fearfully and wonderfully made—not because of anything I’d done, but because He crafted me with intention and love. Slowly, God revealed that my worth was never about my accomplishments but about His divine purpose for my life.
I began to see how He was using my journey to encourage others. My vulnerability about feeling unseen became a bridge to others struggling with the same lies. God was showing me that even in my brokenness, I mattered because He matters. And if He could use my life to reflect His love, then surely, I could encourage others to see their value, too.
3 Mindset Tips for Embracing Your "Why"
Replace Lies with Truth
The enemy works tirelessly to convince us that we’re unworthy or insignificant. Replace those lies with the truth found in Scripture. Meditate on Psalm 139:14, and declare it over your life daily: I am fearfully and wonderfully made. God’s works in me are wonderful.
Recognize Your Ripple Effect
Your "why" isn’t just about you—it’s about the lives you’re called to touch. God placed you here for a reason, and even the smallest act of encouragement or kindness can have a profound impact on someone else. What you do matters, even when you don’t see the full picture.
Trust God’s Hand on Your Life
When self-doubt creeps in, lean into God’s sovereignty. Trust that He has uniquely equipped you to fulfill your purpose. You may not feel ready or qualified, but God’s power works best in our weakness. Your "why" is not dependent on your strength but on His.
Weave Your Next Step
God created you with a purpose that is as unique as your fingerprint. You are here for a reason. Today, I challenge you to pause and ask yourself: What lie am I believing about myself that is keeping me from fully walking in God’s purpose?
Write it down, then surrender it to God. Declare His truth over your life and take one step toward living out your "why." Whether it’s reaching out to encourage someone, sharing your testimony, or simply spending time with God to rediscover your purpose, don’t wait another moment to walk in the truth of who He says you are.
Remember this: You matter because God says you matter. Your story, your gifts, and your presence in this world are all part of His divine plan. Walk boldly in that truth and inspire others to do the same.
“Your why is not about perfection; it’s about connection. God created you to reflect His love and bring light to others—one step, one moment, one life at a time.”
