I Didn’t Just Write the Book… I Became It

'Somewhere along the journey, I realized…I wasn’t just preparing to release a book...I was being shaped by the very message I was called to share.'
What if the journey you’ve been documenting has actually been the evidence of your becoming? Over the past six weeks, I’ve been sharing pieces of my journey with you. Not polished. Not perfected. But real. And if I can be honest, this journey stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. Because while I was preparing to release Leadership UnWrapped, God was unwrapping me. There were moments of clarity, moments of reflection, and moments where I had to pause and ask myself, 'Am I truly living what I’m about to release into the world?' This was never just about writing pages. This was about embodying the message.
Let me take you back for a moment. Back in high school, a Purpose Killer tried to silence my passion for writing, and for a while, I believed it. I tucked it away. I quieted what God had already placed inside of me. Then in 2017, life shifted. I was hospitalized and placed on bedrest for four months, and if you know anything about me, this shaker and mover did not like that season. I wrestled with frustration. I wrestled with stillness. But one day, while me and my thoughts were having a very real, private conversation, God interrupted. He gave me two choices: stay in misery or activate the passion He placed inside of me. And in that moment, I chose. I chose to write. That decision didn’t just fill time...it birthed my first book. And what I thought was a setback became the beginning of something greater.
When I say this journey has been real, I mean that. Because every page of Leadership

UnWrapped is rooted in lived experience. I found myself revisiting my own leadership journey, the lessons shaped through adversity, and the moments where growth didn’t feel visible but was happening anyway. Because what I know now, without question, is this: purpose doesn’t disappear. It waits until you respond.
While I shared publicly, there were also private moments. Moments of wrestling with timing, questioning if it was enough, and navigating the tension between purpose and pressure. But this time, I recognized the pattern. This wasn’t new territory. This was another invitation to choose purpose again. And I did.
As I shared over these past six weeks, I wasn’t just inviting you to read along; I was inviting you into the journey with me. Because the truth is, many of us have experienced moments where something tried to silence what God placed inside of us. Many of us have faced seasons that felt like setbacks. But what if those moments were actually positioning us for purpose?
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the covenant wedding ceremony of two of my dearest spiritual mentors. One of them, back in 1999, introduced me to a pure perspective of purpose...one that, through life experiences, I have now embraced like never before. Sitting in that moment, I realized just how much I have grown to understand that purpose is not just something we pursue but something we live, refine, and become over time.
Leadership UnWrapped is more than a book. It is a reflection of lessons lived, truths tested, and purpose reclaimed. But the real revelation is this: I didn’t lose my voice. I rediscovered it. And this time, I refused to silence it.
If you’ve been walking with me over these past six weeks, here’s what I want you to hold onto: what tried to stop you does not define you. What felt like a setback may be your setup. The passion God placed inside of you still has purpose. And most importantly, YOU Matter. Even in the pause. Even in the process. Even in the pain.
If there is something in you that has been quiet, something you’ve tucked away, or something that life tried to convince you was no longer possible, choose again. Because purpose doesn’t expire. It waits for your yes.
This journey has been humbling. And if I could sum it up in one truth, it would be this: I didn’t just write the book…I became the message. And now, I get to release it not from a place of theory, but from a place of testimony.
Let’s keep living on purpose...together.
