Fiercely Free Friday!

Happy Fiercely Free Friday!!! For the past several months, at the close of each inspirational post, I was inspired to close it with the hashtag #grateful. As I pause to reflect on my life journey thus far, despite the highs and lows, successes and failures, unexpected detours and disappointments, which at times have been great, I have come to appreciate a heart of gratefulness. While it could have been so easy to complain and literally feel and quite honestly justified, I was tested to do what the Scripture instructs and do what I both preach and teach - no matter what, 'to be thankful in all circumstances.'

As I type this blog, I want you to just take a moment and feel what I am expressing as a tear rolls down my face. Mind you, it is by no means a tear of pain but one of gratitude. My gratitude is not a result of everything going right but humility for how God uses what we go through to grow us to where we understand the value of trying to do good in adversity.

My favorite poet, Maya Angelou, reminds us, 'Be present in all things and be thankful for all things.' Oh, how this echoes the sentiments of being thankful in ALL circumstances. Our thankfulness activates a stimulus whereby our attention shifts from the things we may be experiencing to giving attention to something to be grateful for. The more we embrace the power of reflection and being still, trust me, you will be amazed at how disciplined you become in being thankful despite it all.

As you go through your day, may you be inspired to take meaningful moments to find something for which you can be grateful. I assure you that when you shift your thoughts, you will joyfully find yourself giving thanks!
